#196 fellowship with others who have the same passion
#197 reminders of special moments…or holy moments
#198 albums are letters to loved ones…family
Everyone has a story to tell. Here’s one shared tonight…
He was a father, a grandfather. He was the fire chief of the small town in North Carolina. He could fly an airplane, was a woodworker and a HAM radio operator. He lived on a farm, in a farmhouse that was built in the early 1900’s. He loved to ride the tractor… on the plots of land that had been his family’s since the late 1700’s… and rode on it even when he had aged and very sick. He had a rare cancer. He loved his dog (who only lived a week after he died). His life had countless stories…
So does your.
Your life is a story like no other’s and needs to be shared. Preserving your story, faith and values are critical in today’s world. Share your life experiences and photos...your journey.
Create a book that shows how those experiences affected your life. Amazing things begin to happen when people share their stories.
This is not to be just a “reminiscing” activity. It helps you examine your heart and give you the opportunity to share your life lessons learned with those who read it.
Remembering and journaling/writing your story is not just for your benefit; it is a responsibility to pass along your stories with coming generations.
“…it becomes crucial that we become a generation of storytellers who are both recapturing the glory and joy of the Sacred Romance (relationship with God) even as we tell each other our particular stories, so that we can help each other, through God’s Spirit, see His plan of redemption at work in us.” John Eldredge The Sacred Romance p. 114
And stories can be told in words and from the lens of a camera.
Scripture verses such as Psalm 78:4 remind us of the Biblical priority of telling our stories: “We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord.” (NIV)
Having helped others make their life and faith story books, I’ve seen first-hand how it it heals, comforts, redeems, refreshes and even gives closure.
It is a priceless gift.
